An early combustion-based crystal experimentAn early attempt to produce corundum through a combustion-based process. The intense reaction left an oxide mass that I interpreted as sapphire or corundum, but it contained substantial impurities. I would not repeat this arrangement. It was an exploratory result rather than a controlled crystal-growth process.
