Exploring a sensor for rowing-stroke effortAn oarlock fitted for an early stroke-sensing idea. A thin piezoelectric cable was positioned where the stroke load would squeeze it near the mounting bolt. I wanted to use its electrical response to changing load to track rowing effort. The idea was not developed into a calibrated measuring system.

A closer view of the oarlock sensor positionA closer view of the rowing-sensor experiment. The piezoelectric cable was intended to respond as the oar’s load compressed it against the mounting hardware during a stroke. I did not pursue the concept further.
