Custom electronics & embedded controllers
Circuit prototypes, microcontroller controls, wireless connections, and sensor interfaces. My projects combine electronics with practical controls, indicators, and the hardware they operate.
WORK WITH STEVEN BELL
Have an idea that needs a circuit, sensor, mechanism, or test setup? I build and test physical prototypes, drawing on personal research and contract engineering work.
I work across electronics, optics, and mechanical fabrication to help turn a technical question into something you can test. I’m in the Kansas City area and can work with local clients in person. Explore the examples below, then tell me what you need to build.
Circuit prototypes, microcontroller controls, wireless connections, and sensor interfaces. My projects combine electronics with practical controls, indicators, and the hardware they operate.
Prototypes that turn light into a useful measurement: laser detection, photodiode sensing, optical alignment, and data collection. I have built systems for detecting an interrupted beam and comparing light transmitted through water samples.
Custom fixtures, machined parts, adjustable mechanisms, and enclosures that bring electronics and motion together. Examples include a rigid stepper-motor measurement fixture and a remotely controlled fan with adjustable blade pitch.
Experimental fluid channels, valves, pumps, and heat-transfer hardware. My personal research includes bonded acrylic microfluidic chips, flexible laminate channels, and heat exchangers—useful starting points for discussing a custom research prototype.
FROM QUESTION TO PROTOTYPE
Tell me what the device should do, who will use it, and what you have already tried. Sketches, measurements, or an existing prototype can help frame the problem.
A test fixture, circuit, sensor, or mechanism can answer a specific question before a more complete prototype is built.
Use measurements and observations to find what works and what needs another iteration. The project pages show that development process, including the limitations I found.
Include the intended use, size or power constraints, your current stage, and any target budget or timeline. I can review the project and discuss whether my experience is a good fit.
